BASEMENT SYSTEMS

Basement Floor Membranes

Basement floor membranes can be used for two main purposes – isolating moisture sensitive flooring from dampness in the floor slab and as part of a basement waterproofing system.

Waterproofing a Basement Floor

If you are looking to waterproof a basement floor then you need to consider a full basement waterproofing system. As part of this system, you should include floor drainage membranes.

Waterproofing basement floors is made easier with the latest range of high quality cavity flooring membranes now available  in kuwait market

External Waterproofing

External Waterproofing Systems for Basements

Conventional barrier tanking that is subjected to water pressure from the surrounding ground will fail unless the barrier is 100% defect-free. Even a land drain cannot effectively deal with perched or trapped water higher up against the water retaining wall. With the rise of local water tables, more and more basements and earth retaining foundation walls are being subjected to hydrostatic water pressure leading to water ingress into the building.

If a system is put in place to alleviate the hydrostatic pressure from the waterproofing system, the risk of failure is significantly reduced.

The  External Structural Waterproofing System is designed to firstly waterproof the substrate with a brush or trowel applied liquid waterproofing material then remove hydrostatic water pressure from the building with a specially designed Cavity drain membrane

Protect against moisture damage

Cementitious waterproofing coatings are breathable, seamless coatings used to provide positive and negative side waterproofing protection on concrete and masonry surfaces. They prevent damage from water infiltration and resist mold and mildew.

  • Areas of Waterproofing is Needed;
  • Cementitious Waterproofing.
  • Liquid waterproofing membrane.
  • Bituminous waterproofing.
  • Bituminous Coating Waterproofing Method.
  • Bituminous Membrane Waterproofing Method.
  • Polyurethane Waterproofing.

There are many types of waterproofing materials. Some of the best and most common include; Polyurethane, Cementitious Coating, EPDM Rubber, Rubberized Asphalt, Thermoplastic, Bituminous Membrane, and PVC Waterproofing Membrane

Cementitious insulation

Cementitious tanking

Cementitious tanking materials are used for basement tanking when there is a requirement to block water ingress into the building. After preparing the surface, the basement tanking slurry is applied to the masonry surface in two to three coats depending on the volume of water ingress. The basement tanking slurry then cures to form a water impermeable surface which should then be covered with a render to protect it. By using this basement tanking method, the basement remains completely waterproof and the walls remain dry and breathable.
